Emergency Services
Whether you have an abscess, cracked tooth, or a lost crown. We’ve got you covered!
Toothache
If you're experiencing tooth pain, call our office right away! Many patients try to "ride it out," hoping their pain will subside, but end up spending more money and time in pain as a result. Contact us at the first sign of trouble to ensure quick relief and avoid more costly treatment in the future. We are happy to provide same day treatment in many cases, including root canals, crowns, and extractions!
Cracked, Broken, or Chipped Tooth
If you chip or break a tooth, it is vital to schedule an appointment as soon as possible. Once a tooth is compromised it becomes more prone to breaking again, which can lead to more expensive treatment and increased discomfort. Depending on the severity of the break, the tooth may require anything from a simple filling to a crown, root canal, or even extraction.
Knocked Out or Loose Tooth
Getting to the dentist within 30-60 minutes of having your tooth knocked out or loosened can mean the difference between saving and losing your tooth. You should handle the tooth very gently and avoid any contact with the root. Be sure to rinse the tooth and place it in a container with milk (or salt water if milk is unavailable) until you get to us. Oftentimes the tooth can be re-implanted or saved with a root canal.
Abscess or Swelling
If you have gum pain, swelling, or notice a small bump please call us immediately! These are common signs of a dental abscess (infection), and it's crucial to address it right away to prevent the infection from worsening. Pending the severity of the infection you will likely need a root canal or extraction.
Cold Sores
Cold sores, also known as fever blisters, are caused by the herpes simplex virus (HSV-1 and HSV-2) and typically appear around the lips and mouth. They are often accompanied by redness, swelling, and irritation in the affected area. Although cold sores cannot be cured, our dentists can prescribe medications to aid in their treatment and prevention.
Lost Crown or Filling
Be sure to bring your lost filling or crown to your appointment! Clove oil (available at most pharmacies and grocery stores) can be applied for temporary relief if you are experiencing pain from a missing filling or crown. You can also try using dental wax or adhesive (found at your local pharmacy) as a short-term fix.
Oral Burn
Eating very hot foods (like freshly baked pizza) can burn the roof of your mouth. While these sores are typically uncomfortable, they usually heal on their own. Warm salt-water rinses and topical oral anesthetics (such as Orajel) can help soothe the pain in the meantime. If discomfort persists after 10 days, please give us a call!
Bitten Tongue or Lip
Minor cuts usually heal on their own, but if you have a large wound or excessive bleeding you should seek emergency care immediately. A cold compress and warm salt-water rinses can help speed up the healing process.
